New England Environmental Justice Hub

The New England Environmental Justice Hub (EJ Hub) role is simple: strengthen our regional infrastructure and support community-led solutions. We want this space to make it easier for you to get what you need, share knowledge, and keep building momentum—together. This site is intended for advocates, organizers, and partners pushing for climate and clean energy projects and policies across New England. We aim to share capacity-building resources, funding opportunities, state updates, and ways to connect with others doing similar work. These resources are meant to keep your efforts moving, even in uncertain times.

The New England Environmental Justice Hub (EJ Hub) is a short-term project of the Grassroots Fund, supported by the Barr Foundation, Merck Family Fund, and The Funders Network.

The concept for the EJ Hub emerged after Communities First Fund, One Rhode Consulting, the Grassroots Fund, and other partners convened more than 250 New England-based environmental justice advocates in in 2023. That gathering highlighted the potential of federal programs like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act.

Although federal priorities have shifted since then, the Hub is committed to supporting groups that are advancing community-led solutions to crumbling infrastructure, flooding, water and air quality, healthy housing, food systems, renewable energy, and other challenges. To date, the EJ Hub has supported convenings and meetings across the region, spent countless hours strategizing with state partners to sustain momentum, and recently partnered with a movement-building organization to back clean energy projects in New England. From July to November 2025, the Hub is hosting Navigation Sessions and Office Hours featuring the Environmental Protection Network (EPN) and the New England Environmental Finance Center (NEEFC) to help advocates and organizations continue advancing their projects.
