• The EJ Hub is:

Funded by the Barr Foundation, Merck Family Fund and The Funders Network.

    Managed by the Grassrooots Fund.

Powered by Rele Abiade/One Rhode Consulting (Strategic Lead) and Nicoala S (Project Coordinator), in partnership with many local, regional and national partners and community leaders who are working collaboratively to advance environmental justice work.

  • 2023: Communities First Fund, Grassroots Fund, ACE (Alternatives for Community and Environment), One Rhode Consulting, and others organized a regional convening of 250 New England stakeholders to discuss the importance of leveraging the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

2023–2024: A core team continued to amplify federal funding opportunities to communities that needed resources, and organized and supported state and regional meetings in partnership with federal agencies, nonprofits, philanthropy and community leaders.

2024: With support from funders, discussions began to formalize the intermediary work that had been underway, and the concept of an EJ Hub advanced. Dozens of stakeholders from all six New England states shared feedback and advice through a series of listening sessions.

2025: The EJ Hub officially launched, shifting its focus from amplifying federal funding opportunities to serving as a navigation service for nonprofits. The Hub now provides guidance and support in response to federal funding cuts, as well as attacks on climate, clean energy, equity, and other policies vital to New England communities. It also connects New England organizations to technical assistance, capacity-building opportunities, and more.

  • At the EJ Hub, we don’t believe it’s our role to gatekeep. If your work addresses environmental challenges in inclusive ways and supports historically marginalized or underserved urban, rural or Indigenous communities, you are welcome here.

For us, environmental justice means ensuring that all communities have access to clean air, clean water, healthy housing, affordable and clean energy, and a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect them. If that resonates with you, you’re in the right place.

  • We are always open to feedback, suggestions and updates. We would love to hear about state, regional and national events and resources that can help New England EJ efforts. Contact us through this form or email us directly: team@ejhub.org
